<![CDATA[Talk with Your Teen about Healthy Relationships]]>Tue, 14 Apr 2015 15:40:21 GMThttp://icareyouthservices.com/1/post/2015/04/talk-with-your-teen-about-healthy-relationships.html
Be prepared to tell the whole truth... Good and bad! Young people will keep some parts of their relationship private from you or other adults. That is ok and is normal. Encourage them to talk to someone about their dating life, even if it is not you. They may not want to talk to you about a problem because they want to show they are independent and can fix it on their own. Being strong can also mean relying on support systems, from friends, to parents and teachers, to the police, if necessary. It is also common for young people, and adults, to romanticize dating relationships. Being realistic will go a long way with your child. All relationships have ups and downs and letting them know you understand will help build openness.

All mentors need thorough training if they are to possess the skills, attitudes, and activity ideas needed to effectively mentor a young person. Like anyone stepping into a new role, mentors are more likely to succeed if they participate in useful training sessions that prepare them for what lies ahead. Join us on Saturday, December 29th or Saturday, January 5th at ICARE Youth Services, Turning Point Campus, Building A, Suite 315 from 1:30-3:30 pm for Pre-Service Training.
